Our Story
The Ocean for me signifies tranquility, calmness and peace. Ocean Orthodontic Clinic came about from a desire to create such a calm, serene ‘spa’ like atmosphere with state-of-the art equipment and an aspiration to provide a dental care service above and beyond the usual experience people have become accustomed to. I wanted there to be no nervousness or anxiety associated with dental care.
I wanted to provide an exceptional level of Private and NHS Orthodontic care in Torbay for children and adults. When the opportunity came about to tender for an Orthodontic Contract for the region, I gave up a fulfilling job as an Hospital Orthodontic Consultant to focus my energy in seeing my vision come to life. I was successful in the Tender process and the following few months were a blur of activity. Ocean Orthodontic Clinic opened its doors on the 1st of April 2019 just in time for the start of our contract year.
Our treatments include options ranging from traditional metal braces, tooth-coloured braces to ‘invisible’ aligner treatments, we tailor our treatments to the needs of our patients. Together with our team of experienced Specialists, Orthodontic therapists and nurses we provide a customer journey that offers a reproducible gold standard of Orthodontic treatment and customer care every time a patent visits, regardless of who you see and how big or small the treatment you have. In recognition of our high standards, we are a training site for future Specialist Orthodontists and have a Speciality trainee within our team.
I wanted our patients to feel a personal warmth and comfort from the clinic as a whole and that they are being given a personal experience they would value. We are about building relationships with our patients, about remembering our patient’s dog’s names, sympathising about their house move woes and gushing over their wedding photos. Our patients often comment that coming to see us for their appointments feels like they are catching up with old friends. From the visual skylights above the dental chairs, to the wall murals and surgeries personalised with names of the Oceans, every element of the Clinic has been carefully selected keeping the end goal of creating an enjoyable experience for our patients in mind. This matched with our investment in a fully digital workflow, modern technology, a highly qualified exceptionally caring Specialist led Orthodontic team, dedicated to continuing professional development and willing to go the extra mile and beyond, means we are able to provide exceptional care to our patients in a relaxed and calm environment.
At Ocean we will constantly reinvest back into the Clinic and we will continue to empower our team so they in turn are able to provide the best possible care to our patients whilst feeling a sense of fulfilment themselves. It is an absolute privilege to a part of our patients lives and journey.

Why go to an Orthodontic Specialist?
On average it takes 6 years to qualify as a registered dental surgeon. In the UK It then takes another 6 years of specialist training that requires successful examination in Fellowship in Dental Surgery and Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons. As specialists we have usually had a further years postgraduate training compared to normal general dental surgeons.
